Dianne Mallory was an “absolutely fantastic” guest speaker for International Baccalaureate students at Midlothian High, said teacher Cammie Bennett, adding, “I wish we had a longer time with her.”
The former executive director of the Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia, Mallory spoke April 9 to students in the IB history of Americas class. Mallory talked about the history of segregation and integration in Chesterfield schools, sharing her personal experiences of attending segregated schools and being among the first to integrate Midlothian High.
Bennett said, “She was able to bring textbook history directly into the classroom by sharing local history and experiences in the community.”
